We restored the marble flooring of our client’s living room and common bathroom at Neu at Novena, Singapore. The project involved polishing dull marble floors, removing visible etching marks from black bathroom marble tiles, and applying a sealant to help reduce future stain absorption.

The problem: Dull marble floors and etching marks
The living room marble flooring had lost its shine over time due to everyday wear and tear. In the common bathroom, the black marble tiles had developed visible white marks that affected its appearance.
These marks can be caused by marble etching. Marble is a calcium carbonate-based natural stone that can react with acidic substances, including certain household cleaners and toiletries. This reaction alters the stone’s surface, leaving dull or whitish marks that ordinary cleaning may not remove.
Bathroom marble can also develop water residue and surface dullness through regular exposure to moisture, cleaning products, and everyday use.
In this project, the objective was to restore shine to the existing marble flooring so that our client can skip expensive replacement.
